SpoolView

SpoolView is a complete printing system for UNIX environments.

Using a visual user interface, SpoolView delivers extraordinary control over printers for both the system administrator and the end-user.

SpoolView can control an unlimited number of printers, any of which can be connected to a TCP/IP network using native SpoolView or lpd/lpr protocols. After submitting a print request, the user maintains full control over its attributes such as, but not limited to changing the printer, form, the number of copies and the printing priority.

Administration facilities are built into SpoolView. Certain users might be designated as administrators and have more control over the printing system. For example administrators are able to register new printers, change paper forms on printers, cancel any print request, suspend activity of a printer, and respond to emergencies.

Additional Features:

  • Seamless integration with existing applications
  • Ability to print bi-directionally Windows / Dos and UNIX (lpd/lpr)
  • Use a full-screen, menu based interface to control the entire SpoolView operation. The interface can be set up the way you want it to appear

  • Identify printers with easy names like "laser" or "letterhead".
  • On-line context sensitive help is available at all times.
  • Recover from power failures, If page 300 of the file was being printed, it will restart exactly on that page.

  • Create terminal descriptions from scratch.
  • Set environmental variables.
  • Check / Write terminfo entries automatically.
